Communicating With FaithLab

Communicating With FaithLab

Via BaseCamp

Basecamp allows Faithlab to create private project boards for your project. Together, we'll use this space to share communications (discussion, comments, files, etc) related to your project. This way, we all have access to the work info and data for your project. The project board is easy to use. In fact, when you receive an email from it, you only need to hit "reply" in your email program and the system will automatically post your comment in the proper place and email it to the others on our team. However, you may sometimes need to visit this site to download attached files, or to upload files to us.

Via SmugMug

Whether you hire us to do photography or you have photos of you own you'd like us to use, Faithlab will use SmugMug to share photos. Click the button below to discover how easy it is to use SmugMug.

Reading SiteMaps

The sitemap shows the new structure of your site's menu as well as the pages that fall under each menu item.

Reading HomeGrids

The homegrid gives a birdseye view of our proposed set-up of the home page. A grey block with black 'X'  represents a photo. Smaller grey blocks with text on top represent buttons.

The Site Development Process

The Site Development Process

Structure

Focus is on the menus/pages (which are included, what are they named, and in what sequence do they appear?) and on the homepage (what info needs to be featured).

Design

Focus is on setting the colors, typography and other visual settings. A homepage look will be offered, along with 2-3 interior page layouts.

Build-Out

Using the structure and design decisions, we add the full set of pages and format content. Having content for interior pages is critical to the progress of site development.

Wrap-Up

Now it's time to add extra features included in your project, including forms, e-commerce/donations, member area, calendar, etc. We also add a few news posts and sermons at this stage.

Training

If your project includes training, we provide access to a training video. Logins are provided for those who will be making edits. Edits should be limited to TEXT EDITS only until after launch.

Launch

Launch is a process, and can take as much as a day or so to roll out across the Internet. We will need your domain name admin area login in order to launch your site.

Stay On Track

Stay On Track

Providing new copy vs. Migrating content from your current site

When Faithlab adds copy to your new site your group has two choices as to how to provide this copy. Some groups see this as a great opportunity to write up some fresh, new copy, while others prefer to have copy migrated over from their current site. Groups may also choose to create new copy for some pages and have copy migrated to other pages.

Groups who decide to provide new copy for their site may find that that process is too time consuming, or that it is slowing down the site development process. Deciding to allow Faithlab to migrate content from your current site is a great way to speed up the process!
